Area Vegetation

Top  Previous  Next

Area Vegetation controls the vegetation or lack of vegetation. It also controls other things associated with the vegetation areas, such as running speed, ground color, ground height randomness, etc.

Normal white forest vegetation is defined by the symbol 405.0.

Most of the individual options for vegetation can be either Ignored, Set or Merged/Overlayed.

Vegetation can only be applied to areas. If you want to set vegetation for a line object, use Line To Area first. If you want to set vegetation for an area around a point object, use Point To Area first.

OPTIONS

Forest

- Ignore: This symbol will not affect the forest.

- Set: Use this density and type for all areas with this symbol.

- Overlay: Merge a second forest layer on top of the base layer (marshes)

Density: The tree density to apply (0=none, 15=max)

Type: Select the forest type to apply.

Edit: Change the forest type settings.

Plants

Use these settings to control the ground vegetation.

Running Speed

Apply this speed setting to the areas under this symbol.

Ground Color

Apply this ground color to all base layer tris with the default texture. This will not affect any areas that also have a GroundTexture param.

Ground Height Randomness

Adds a small amount of random height change to the ground heights to make the terrain more realistic. If you use contour interval other than 5 meters, make sure this value is changed relative to the contour height. Also make sure to not use this option on areas that should be plain.

Canopy Shadow

Control the height and density of the canopy shadow.

When the ground texture points are colored, shadows are added from a virtual tree canopy.  This setting should approximate the height of the forest in the selected forest type.
